River Otters

RIVER OTTERS

The Aquarium’s three river otters are among the most popular animals on display. The River Otters exhibit is now available for sponsorship, and is home to Molly (female), Finn and Banks (males). Located in the Aquarium’s naturally-lighted conservatory, River Otters is one exhibit every visitor looks forward to seeing with each return visit.

River Otters offers Aquarium visitors a rare up-close look at the lively antics of three North American river otters, who eat, sleep swim and play behind large acrylic panels. The care and feeding of the three otters is serious business, and staff work closely with Aquarium vets to manage behavior and keep the trio in optimum health.

Molly, Finn and Banks are as curious about Aquarium visitors as we are about them!

  • River Otters is one of the largest and most popular exhibits at the Aquarium.

  • Though otters frequently nap and may go through periods of inactivity, when active they can put on quite a show—running, diving swimming and wrestling with their mates.

  • Scheduled feeding programs are perhaps the best times to observe the otters.

Sponsorship of this exhibit has a term of ten years. The sponsor will be recognized with appropriate signage at the exhibit and on permanent displays at all three NC Aquariums.
