Green Vehicle

GREEN VEHICLE

When Jennette’s Pier was rebuilt in 2011, it was one of the first Platinum LEED-certified state-owned buildings in North Carolina. This designation was due in part to the pier’s resource conservation and energy capabilities, notably the three distinctive wind turbines that generate nearly a quarter of the pier’s energy needs. A “green” vehicle, used for education outreach, staff training and local travel would help build awareness for the pier’s conservation and educational mission.

Over the last decade, the technologies involved in producing electric vehicles has continued to improve, and their numbers are growing on the nation’s highways. Jennette’s Pier would like to obtain an electric/hybrid car for use in educational outreach programming, staff travel for conferences and training, and local travel.

Jennette’s Pier was proud to receive a coveted Platinum LEED Certification from the US Green Building Council in 2011.

  • Sponsorship of an electric or hybrid vehicle would strengthen the pier’s brand as a conservation-oriented facility.

  • Colorful graphics on the vehicle would include recognition branding for the sponsor.

  • Operational costs for the vehicle will be covered from the pier’s budget.

Sponsorship of this vehicle has a minimum term of five years. The sponsor will be recognized with appropriate signage on the vehicle for this term. Named recognition is also provided on permanent displays at all three NC Aquariums.
