Entry Gardens

ENTRY GARDENS

Visitors to the Aquarium always marvel at the lush garden landscapes that surround the facility. In particular, the entry gardens receive special attention from full-time horticulturist Gwendy Womble, who does a great job of planting and caring for a wide variety of native and non-native species. These gardens enrich the visitor experience and are part of what makes PKS so attractive.

The Aquarium’s Entry Gardens are available for named sponsorship. The donor’s contribution will be used to help purchase new plants and landscape supplies, manage the Aquarium’s greenhouse, and support the beauty of these planted areas throughout the year.

The Aquarium’s surrounding natural landscape is beautiful, and is enhanced by planter boxes that add splashes of seasonal color. Many of the plants are raised in the Aquarium’s greenhouse.

  • Sponsorship of the Entry Gardens is acknowledged with a naming plaque.

  • The gardens and planter boxes change throughout the seasons.

  • The staff horticulturist is responsible for designing and maintaining all gardens.

  • Sponsorship provides funding to purchase plants and supplies.

Sponsorship of this program has a term of 10 years. The sponsor will be recognized with appropriate signage in the garden area. Additionally, named recognition is provided on permanent displays at all three NC Aquariums.
