Blue Crew is a new summertime work-study program for local teens designed to develop their work habits and people skills, while enhancing the guest experience for all Aquarium visitors. Twelve teens will be selected to work at the Aquarium one-day per week (so they can hold other summer jobs) where they’ll engage visitors, answer questions, show props and artifacts, wear costumes, play games, and otherwise enrich the guest experience.
Blue Crew teens have fun with Aquarium guests and enrich the visitor experience.
Blue Crew members will be identified by distinctive branded t-shirts.
10-12 students will be hired from local high schools, scout troops and clubs
Crew members will work in pairs under the guidance of Aquarium education staff.
Crew wage: $10/hr.
Program runs from June 8 through August 12
Crew members will gain valuable work experience and be exposed to environmental science and ocean careers.
Sponsorship covers salaries, uniforms, field trips and an end-of-summer awards cookout.
Sponsorship of this program has a term of one year (renewable). The sponsor will be recognized on Crew t-shirts, social media and on permanent displays at all three NC Aquariums.
