Everyone Can Help Sea Turtles

From the rivers to the sea, we are all connected to sea turtles and their survival. All five species that use North Carolina waters are protected under the Endangered Species Act. Working with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), the NC Aquariums support programs that protect sea turtles locally and globally. The AZA Sea Turtle SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction) program unites organizations that educate the public, study and rehabilitate sea turtles, protect nesting beaches and work to reduce threats in the ocean.

In June, we celebrate World Oceans Day and Sea Turtle Week. Check our website for special activities and to learn more about sea turtles. Visit our temporary exhibit connecting humans and sea turtles, view our life-size sea turtle models and view sea turtle rehabilitation up close in the STAR Center.

Donations and Aquarium Gift Shop purchases support the NC Aquariums’ mission, including the conservation work we do in the Aquarium’s STAR Center and the work that AZA does across the globe.
