Raise a Glass for Sharks

Bring your love of fins and toothy grins to Suds for Sharks, a fundraiser for sand tiger shark conservation and research. The event will be held 5:30 - 8 p.m. July 10 at Shortway Brewing Company at 230 Chatham Street in Newport. It’s a free event and no registration is necessary.

This free, family-friendly event will bring awareness to the importance of shipwrecks off the coast of North Carolina, as essential habitat for sand tiger sharks, which are considered critically endangered in other parts of the world.

The event will feature speakers, shark-themed games, shark trivia, and a silent auction with items donated by local artists. Shortway Brewing Company will have a shark-themed beer and there will be food for purchase onsite.

All donations will go to N.C. Aquariums shark conservation programs.

Fins Up for Shark Week

Sink your teeth into some Jaw-some activities during Shark Week at the Aquarium July 14-20. Shark-themed programs, activities, crafts, and displays portray the truth about these often-misunderstood creatures, their essential role in the ocean ecosystem and the threats they face.
