On Wednesday, May 21, Jennette’s Pier will reach its 14th anniversary since the facility’s reopening in 2011. In addition, the North Carolina Aquariums are close to their 50th Anniversary, which will be celebrated in September 2026.
True to its mission, Jennette’s has provided an important oceanfront educational resource that’s been enjoyed by several million people of all ages from near and far.

We continue to host well over 150,000 paid visitors a year while our education team hosts an average of 10,000 students on field trips for ocean-related programing each year.
Our three large aquariums and multiple scientific exhibits entertain and amaze guests.
Out on the Pier, ocean-energy experiments continue from the research station by our partners at East Carolina University’s Coastal Studies Institute located nearby in Skyco.

Jennette’s also serves as a social hub both on the pier and the beach. We host dozens of community events yearly such as fishing tournaments and surfing contests.Countless couples have celebrated their wedding receptions in Oceanview Hall and many return to visit, often with family in tow.

And finally, fishing remains the foundational lure for Jennette’s and anglers have had quite time these past few weeks with catches of red drum, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, sea mullet, northern puffer, flounder and croaker.
