August 2020

Even with our doors currently closed to guests, the North Carolina Aquariums remain dedicated to our mission and our friends. Let’s count the ways:

Expert staff ensures the animals in our care receive all they need for their health and well-being. Animal caretakers feed, clean habitats, conduct health checks, monitor water quality, and offer enrichment, with no interruption for holidays, weekends or closures.

This spring and summer, our teams raised and released hundreds of endangered Carolina gopher frogs to their native habitats, returned rehabilitated sea turtles to their ocean home, and continue to identify key habitats for sand tiger sharks with the help of citizen scientists, through Spot A Shark USA.

Unique virtual programming at all three aquariums allows you to sneak a peek behind the scenes, share an animal encounter with your next online gathering, and much more. For extra fun, socially distant outdoor adventures await on-site at Pine Knoll Shores and Roanoke Island, from paddling to marsh exploration.

You asked and we answered! Aquarium fans can purchase favorite items in the NEW North Carolina Aquariums online gift shop. Browse and click our best-sellers for delivery to your door.

Our team looks forward with projects and preparations, while we remain paused in the state’s Safer at Home Phase 2 with no date set for guests to return. Know that we miss you, appreciate your continued support, and can’t wait to welcome you back to your happy place.
