February 2020

The North Carolina Aquariums are committed to caring for sick or stranded sea turtles. Our team works with sea turtle stranding networks, nesting beach patrols and other aquariums and sea turtle rehabilitation facilities to help these animals. Many of the sick turtles arrive in the colder months of fall and winter. Follow the link below to learn more about a few of the recent cold-stunned turtles recovering with the help of the Aquarium at Fort Fisher.

The walls are tumbling down! Yes, construction is beginning on the new Asian small-clawed otter habitat. Check out the video link below and stay tuned for the otters in summer 2020.

It’s a day of discovery for children and adults living with disabilities, and their families too. Sensory Day offers activities and programs throughout the event, included with admission, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8.

The Hugs and Fishes Valentine's Lock-In is "o-FISH-ally" a kids-only sleepover. Games, crafts and live-animal encounters offer children, 5-12, a safe and supervised night at the aquarium. Hurry and preregister for Feb. 14 or 15, as space is limited.
