Fabulous fall fishing peaks this month, with warm ocean waters enticing red drum, pompano, flounder, sea mullet and blues to bite. Whether you’re surf- or pier-fishing, be sure to take advantage of this wonderful time of year.
The Outer Banks Association of Realtors plans on running their surf-fishing tournament from the parking lot of Jennette’s Pier Friday, Oct. 4. Their tourney teams will hit the beach for a beautiful day of fishing.
A few days later, the 68th annual Nags Head Surf Fishing Club’s Invitational Tournament kicks off with a Captain’s Meeting with refreshments, Wednesday Oct. 9.
Their two days of fishing in four sessions starts early Thursday morning, Oct. 10, and ends Friday afternoon, Oct. 11. With 80 teams of six anglers each, their trucks, SUVs and Jeeps will line the beaches of Nags Head while everyone gets serious about surf-fishing.
The third event happens at each of the ocean piers, including Jennette’s. The 36th Annual Lions Visually Impaired Persons (VIP) Fishing Tournament, hosted by the First Flight, Manteo, Nags Head, Wanchese, Lower Currituck and Columbia Lions clubs, is the largest service project of its kind in the world!
This trio of big-time fishing tournaments says it well: Fabulous fishing, all fall!
