Take the First Step today

When it comes to taking on a problem like plastic pollution, every tiny change is a step in the right direction.

That’s what makes the First Step pledge a great starting place. Started by 22 aquariums across the country, the First Step pledge aims to reduce plastic pollution by skipping plastic straws.

Skipping plastic straws won’t solve the plastic pollution crisis overnight, but it’s an important first step you can take to protect aquatic wildlife.

Take the First Step pledge to skip the straws you don’t need, then check out all the ways you can make an even bigger impact:

  1. Ask your local restaurants to only serve straws on request
  2. Sign up for the week-long plastic-free challenge
  3. Invite your friends to take the First Step pledge on Facebook
  4. Talk to decision-makers about reducing the sources of plastic pollution

In addition to this awesome challenge, the Aquarium has some exciting events that you do not want to miss. Santa and his elves will be diving throughout the month, with a special appearance Dec. 8 for Santa By the Sea. Registration is now open for Holiday and Sea Turtle Camps. Check out our website for more information.
