Kids, Candy, & Catching fish

Make fishing wishes come true with the Surf Fishing Workshop Oct. 13-15. Participants travel to Fort Macon State Park and Cape Lookout National Seashore to see what they can catch. Registration required — member discount available.

Take a trip to Cape Lookout National Seashore with the Aquarium and sea-turtle scientists during this special Turtle Talk Beach Cleanup event Oct. 17. Scientists will talk about nesting behaviors and participants will engage in a cleanup that directly impacts sea turtles in the wild. Registration required, and the fee is $25. Event is appropriate for high school and up.

Toddler Time returns to Wednesday mornings at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. At no additional cost each week, youngsters get to know an aquatic animal through an age-appropriate lesson, stories, crafts and up-close encounters.

On Oct. 25 the Aquarium offers some pint-sized Halloween fun for little ones at the Preschool Pumpkin Patch. This fall fest includes photo ops for those cute costumes, carnival-style games, life-sized characters and other fun. 9 a.m. – noon, $3 per person.

Bring on the ghosts, goblins and goodies! At Trick-or-Treat Under the Sea, Oct. 26-27, collect candy from booths among the exhibits and enjoy other Halloween hijinks. Tickets sold 4:30 – 7:30 p.m., $13 per person, 10% discount for members.
