Wise up about owls August 4-6 during the Aquarium’s International Owl Awareness Celebration. Meet the Aquarium’s owls — a great horned owl, a barn owl and three Eastern screech owls. All of the birds in our care have injuries that make them unable to survive in the wild, and we are able to provide them a permanent home. Watch these birds in action during the Bird’s-Eye View show, and enjoy other owl-oriented activities, all free with admission or membership.
Beat the heat with behind the scenes tours, offered daily through August. See what’s on the other side of the exhibits — visit labs and holding areas, and even help feed a few fish in our largest exhibit. Five different types of tours are offered each week.
Explore the shore in a number of guided outdoor activities — they end Sept. 5. Because sea turtle nesting season is still in high gear, one of the most popular outdoor activities is the Night Trek. You’ll walk the nighttime beach with a skilled interpreter, looking for signs of sea turtles.
Like to plan ahead? Be sure to visit the Aquarium September 1-3 during our Vulture Day Celebration! These amazing birds are often misunderstood, but they play an essential role in the ecosystem.
