Summertime is here and we are knee-deep in summer programs! One of our favorites is Stand Up Paddleboarding for children and adults. This is not your average paddleboard trip. Explore Bogue Sound on a stand up paddleboard (SUP) with your instructor as nature guide. You'll learn about the many plants and animals that call the Theodore Roosevelt Natural Area their home, and receive expert SUP instruction. Ages 6 and up. Register here!
When it gets hot outside, cool down with a behind-the-scenes tour! We have five different tours to choose from. Aquarium at a Glance gives visitors a quick overview of the Aquarium. During Otter Antics you’ll help our otter keeper prepare activities for three river otters. Help feed the Living Shipwreck during Feeding Frenzy. Tours from $12–$20. Learn more here!
Kids’ Night Out, on Wednesdays, is our newest program for children, and kids are having a blast! One child said, “It was like Night at the Museum, but at the Aquarium!” Children get the Aquarium to themselves. After a pizza dinner, youngsters get a behind-the-scenes tour and face-to-face encounters with some amazing animals!
Don’t forget Shark Week July 9–16! Seven days of toothy times spotlight the mysterious and misunderstood world of sharks. Enjoy shark-themed programs, feedings, activities and crafts.
