Experience a tug on your line and the thrill of landing a fish — during the Pier’s 7th Annual Family Fishing Tournament, on Saturday, June 3, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This yearly event attracts dozens of people to Jennette’s for a morning of fishing, family and fun! Anglers who catch the longest fish in 10 to 12 categories are awarded prizes and trophies.
In past tournaments, plenty of bluefish, trout, sea mullet, flounder and more have been caught, measured, photographed and released. Usually right around 75 participants enjoy this tourney. Sign up that morning, or register online today!
Never fished from an ocean pier? We’ve got you covered! The education staff offers our “Fishing 101” class every weekday of summer at 9 a.m. The two-hour-long Family Fishing program provides everything you need to catch a fish, plus hands-on instruction.
If you can’t make it June 3, Jennette’s Pier hosts another similar tournament on the first day of summer, Wednesday, June 21. Sponsored by the Nags Head Surf Fishing Club, the Annual Fritz Boyden Youth Tournament is hosted by each of the public ocean fishing piers on the northern beaches — Avalon, Nags Head, Jennette’s and Outer Banks.
